Corrigendum and modification notices on UK tenders — reading for SMEs

Buyers publish corrigenda, modifications and addenda when tender packs change — extended deadlines, replaced specifications, corrected CPV codes, or clarified site-visit dates. For SME cleaning and facilities bidders, the literacy task is simple: read what changed on the published modification notice before you assume your earlier bid/no-bid still holds. Not legal advice and not bid writing.

Not bid writing. Not a search engine. BidFit emails tender matches from Contracts Finder and Find a Tender and, when you ask, writes a sourced Go / No-go memo on the notice you name. We do not monitor every corrigendum on every live bid.

Modification notices are linked publications

A live tender notice is not frozen at publication. Portals link later documents to the same procurement:

Your bid/no-bid memo from last week was sourced to a notice edition. If a modification publishes, re-run triage against the updated set — see when a notice match needs a memo.

How to read the modification block

  1. Find the modification notice type — corrigendum, modification, or addendum label on the portal.
  2. Read the “description of changes” narrative — buyers often summarise what differs from the original notice.
  3. Check deadline and document version fields — a new closing date overrides the original unless the text says otherwise.
  4. Note publication date of the modification — standstill and award timelines are unrelated; this is still a live tender context.

Quote the modification notice ID and date if you discuss the opportunity internally. “The ITT said X” is weak if a corrigendum now says Y.

Modification vs award or PIN notices

Do not confuse document types:

Digest and alert behaviour

Official saved searches and BidFit’s digest may surface a modification as a fresh email when the buyer republishes. Treat that as a prompt to reopen the notice page, not automatically as a brand-new opportunity. The underlying CPV and buyer may match a tender you already triaged.

Portal alert hygiene: Contracts Finder + Find a Tender alerts. Soft FM filter context: soft FM Contracts Finder filters.

Questions

What is a corrigendum on Contracts Finder?

A corrigendum or modification notice is a published update to an earlier tender notice. It may correct errors, extend the submission deadline, replace documents, or clarify scope. Treat it as a separate publication linked to the original notice ID.

Must I re-read the whole ITT after a modification?

The modification notice should state what changed. If it replaces the specification or extends the deadline, assume prior assumptions need checking. BidFit memos cite the notice set you provide; we do not monitor corrigenda on your behalf unless you order on the updated notice.

Does BidFit alert me to corrigenda?

The digest surfaces new and updated notices that match your profile. For a specific live bid, re-check the buyer notice page before submission. We do not operate a dedicated corrigendum watch service.
